Appearance : Colourless to pale yellow oily liquid, tends to darken and thicken on exposure to air.
Organoleptic : Strong, clove-like odour; spicy, pungent, clove-like taste.

Description : Eugenol is obtained by fractional distillation ( under vacuum) from clove leaf oil, which the above mentioned oil is extracted from leaves of the clove tree ( Eugenia caryophyllata) .
